Things you should know about the lionism
There are more than 10,000 Lions, Lioness and Leos and more than 300 Lions Clubs active in Massachusetts. Since 1990, the Lions have paid for and distributed more than 500,000 eye tissue and organ donor cards through the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. The Massachusetts Eye Research Fund, Inc.., is the largest single non government source of support to eye research in Massachusetts.
The Lions have established most of the world’s eye banks, thousands of clinics and eye research facilities around the world.
The Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Fund, Inc., has helped to establish two major research centers is Boston; namely, the Howe Laboratory at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary and the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research Laboratory at Boston Medical Center.
More needs to be done to turn the vision of a world without blindness into reality. There is strength in
numbers. By joining the Plymouth Lions, you become part of a dynamic fellowship of people who are
connected throughout the world by a common cause but who work locally to serve friends and neighbors in our community.
Each year the Massachusetts Lions Research Fund, Inc., awards grants to between 15 and 20 projects that have led to some of the most promising and effective advancements in the treatment of eye disease including a cure for baby blindness.
